The Driving Test
Your instructor will advise when your driving is approaching test standard, and suggest when to book your practical driving test. This can be done on line using the link below, or by dialling 0300 200 1122. You must pay the DSA test fee at the time of booking.
It is usual to have at least a one hour lesson immediately before the test, allowing you to settle in and arrive at the test centre in good time. The cost of this lesson and the charge for the use of the car during your test should be paid to your instructor on the day of your test unless it has been pre-paid.
The practical driving test lasts for about 45 minutes and is conducted by a DSA examiner.
After an initial eyesight check you will be asked two vehicle safety check questions, often referred to as the 'Show Me - Tell Me' questions.

The examiner will then test you on the topics you have covered during your training, including one manoeuvre and possibly an emergency stop.
You will also be asked to drive independently for approximately 10 minutes following verbal directions or signposts.
